Project German plus Secondary General School Certificate

This project is supported by the City of Stuttgart.

Preparation course for the secondary general school certificate (external exam)

This course is aimed at young resettlers and new immigrants who

  • do not have a school leaving certificate
  • do not have a school leaving certificate that is recognised in Germany
  • are under 27 years of age
  • have arrived in Germany in the last few years

In addition to German and subject-specific instruction at henke schulungen, students will also receive individual advice regarding their educational and professional future. They have the option of preparing for the external exam for the secondary general school certificate.

Cost
Course participation is free of charge. As this course is funded by the City of Stuttgart, participation is only open to students residing in Stuttgart. Travel costs can be covered if necessary.

Prior knowledge of German at level A2 required.

This course is part of the scheme “Promoting equal opportunities for young resettlers and new immigrants during the school-career transition.”

1. Preliminary course

Scope: 30 lessons per week

Course hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Subjects: German (focus), Mathematics, Social Studies, English

Description:

  • Fast development and improvement of German language skills
  • Assessing and expanding knowledge and technical vocabulary in the exam subjects
  • Assistance with everyday situations
  • Introduction to the structures and particularities of education and working in Germany
  • Developing personal and professional perspectives for the future
  • Creating a support plan to achieve personal and professional goals in Germany

Socio-pedagogical support:
Support primarily includes individual advice, guidance for everyday situations and developing perspectives.

 

2. Main course: Secondary general school certificate course

Scope: 35 lessons per week

Course hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and
3x per week until 3 p.m.

Subjects: German, English, Mathematics, Computer Science, Social Studies, History, Economics, Presentation

Description:

  • Expanding and perfecting German skills. Studying German essay formats and literary analyses
  • Expanding knowledge and technical vocabulary in the exam subjects, grades 7–9 of secondary school
  • Practicing work and analysis techniques common in science subjects
  • Gaining and expanding English language skills
  • Training in Word and Excel
  • Online research
  • Individual exam training
  • Developing personal and professional perspectives for the future

Socio-pedagogical support:
Support includes, among other things, individual advice, ongoing information and motivation, mediation in case of conflicts and misunderstandings, support during internships, assistance with vocational orientation and job applications.

During these hours, you also have the opportunity to apply to the Federal Office for subsidised or free course participation. Level placement, consultation and registration take place at our premises at Fritz-Elsas-Straße 38 in Stuttgart.
